FOSSIL AND MOCLAY MUSEUM

World-class fossils!

At the Fossil and Moler Museum, you can experience fossils so ancient it’s hard to grasp – and so beautiful you can’t help but take photos. And you can even try finding some yourself! At the museum, you’ll learn how the moler was formed around 55 million years ago, back when Mors lay at the bottom of a vast sea.

The museum holds an impressive collection of fossilized fish, birds, insects, and tree trunks – and among the highlights are the world’s oldest day-flying butterfly, the world’s first songbird, and Luffe, the famous fossil turtle.

In the museum shop, you’ll find fossils, minerals, books, and jewellery made from polished moler stones – and there’s also ice cream, coffee, and soft drinks if you need a break.

Fancy trying your luck as a fossil hunter? You can rent a hammer and explore the moler pit right next to the museum – either with a guide or on your own. It’s a special experience to stand with a stone in your hands and be the first person in millions of years to see the outline of a tiny creature from the time when Mors lay at the bottom of a tropical sea.
