Visit the moclay pit on your own
You are always welcome to visit the museum's moclay pit on your own. It is located opposite the Fossil and Moclay Museum. The pit can also be visited outside the museum's opening hours. The easiest way to get to the pit is to follow Skarrehagevej north and turn left after a few hundred metres.
The museum points out that walking in the pit is at your own risk.
A hammer with a flat side, e.g. a mason's hammer or a dull knife are necessary tools to bring if you want to look for fossils. In case of rain, rubber boots are also a good idea.
During the museum's opening hours, it is possible to rent a hammer in the museum shop for DKK 20 per hour.
